The Gateway Team

Great care has been taken to ensure that each and every teacher, clinician, and even non-teaching staff member at Gateway-Mumbai possesses the educational qualifications, prior work experience, and attitudes necessary to contribute effectively towards the success of our mission. At present, our team consists of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals with several years of relevant experience in India and overseas, qualified with Bachelors, Masters and even Doctorate degrees in Special Education from the most renowned universities in the UK, USA, and India.

Gateway-Mumbai invests tremendous time, effort and money towards providing its team members with opportunities for professional development (PD) through the year including: four weeks of intensive training during summer, monthly in-house workshops during ‘PD Day’, multiple opportunities to attend expert-led workshops and national/international conferences, and observation visits to our several collaborator institutions in the US each year.

    • Indira Bodani

      School Founder

      Indira is the Founder of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and a member of the Keshavlal V. Bodani Education Foundation’s Board.

      Upon realizing the dearth of services in Mumbai for children with special needs, she was inspired to set up an establishment that would serve as an educational institute as well as transform the landscape of special education in India. Prior to establishing GSoM, she spent 13 years in the USA working closely with a multidisciplinary team of renowned educators and therapists to provide for her older son’s special educational needs.

      She also has experience working with children with special needs at a reputed school in Mumbai for over 5 years, prior to her time in the USA.

    • Siamack Zahedi

      Head of School

      Siamack is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. He has completed a Master's (M.Ed.) in Education from Columbia University, New York, USA, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Education from Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, USA. Prior to joining GSoM, he has been engaged in a variety of formal and informal non-profit endeavours focused on educational reform across South Asia since 2005.

    • Varsha Makhija

      Associate Head of School

      Varsha is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. She has completed a Master's (MA) in Clinical Psychology from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with a variety of non-profit organizations, corporate institutions and schools for over 6 years.

    • Radhika Misquitta

      Director of Education

      Radhika is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. She has completed a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, and a Master's (MA) in Special Education from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in India and the USA as a Teacher Coach and Special Educator for over 9 years.

    • Radhika Zahedi

      Math Program Coordinator

      Radhika has completed a Master’s (MA) in Mathematics Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, USA. She has worked in public schools in New York, USA, teaching Math and Science, has taught in IB and IGCSE schools in Mumbai, and was a Consulting Expert and Teacher Coach and facilitated extensive Professional Development at a rural school in north-east India for over 5 years.

    • Rachna Shah

      Language Program Coordinator

      Rachna is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2012. She has completed the Hornsby Course in Dyslexia & Literacy from Alpha to Omega, UK, and her Master's (MA) in Psychology from S.N.D.T. University, Mumbai, India. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree (Ed.D.) from Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, USA.

    • Nituna Baretto

      Humanities Program Coordinator

      Nituna has completed the Teacher Training Course from St. Margaret's College, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with international schools (ICSE and IB) across Mumbai, teaching and developing curricula for over 8 years.

    • Rimi Chopra

      Arts Program Coordinator

      Rimi has completed a Certificate in Arts-Based Therapy (ABT) from the World Center for Creative Learning Foundation, Pune, a Master’s (MA) in Arts from SNDT Women's University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology from St. Xavier’s Institute of Education, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as an Arts-Based Therapist at clinics, as a Counseling Psychologist in schools and rehabilitative centers, and conducted music workshops for children in pediatric settings, across Mumbai.

    • Mala Lamba

      Sensory-Motor Dept. Coordinator

      She is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2012. Mala has completed a Certificate Course in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California, USA and a Bachelor’s (BSOT) in Occupational Therapy from Seth G.S Medical College, Mumbai, India. She has been practicing as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist since 2010.

    • Ridhika Shah

      Speech and Language Dept. Coordinator

      Ridhika has completed a Master’s (MASLP) in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology, from Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai, India. She stood 2nd across Mumbai in her graduating year. She has been practicing at clinics across Mumbai as a Speech & Language Therapist since 2011.

    • Manika Khanna

      Counseling Dept. Coordinator

      Manika has completed a Bachelor's (BA) in Psychology from University of Waterloo, Canada, and a Master’s (MA) in Clinical Psychology - Infant and Child Development from the University of Indianapolis, USA. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as a Counsellor and conducted neuropsychological assessments for LD/ADHD/ASD for children and adolescents at a variety of organisations in the USA.

    • Indrani Chatterjee

      Mentor Teacher & Adaptive Skills Programme Coordinator

      Indrani has completed a Master’s (MEd) in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati, USA. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with a variety of schools in the USA for over 30 years, and has received the Teaching Excellence Award from The Kentucky Education Association.

    • Riddhi Gogri

      Information & Computer Technology Dept. Coordinator

      Riddhi has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India, and a Bachelor’s (BA) in Psychology from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in the learning resources department at an non-governmental organization in Mumbai, designing Individualized Education Plans and Special Educational Needs modules and conducting remedial education for children with special needs.

    • Tvisha Luthria

      LS and MS Coordinator & Lead Teacher

      Tvisha has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India and a Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE). Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in nurseries and preschools across Mumbai.

    • Urvi Shah

      Lead Physical Therapist

      Urvi is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. She has completed her Bachelor's (BSPT) in Physical Therapy from University of Mumbai, India, a Certificate Course in Neuro-Developmental Treatment from the University of Colorado, USA, and a Certificate Course in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California, USA. She has been practicing as a Physical Therapist since 2010.

    • Amy Jain

      Occupational Therapist

      Amy has completed her Master’s (MSc OT) in Occupational Therapy from the University of Northampton, UK. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with children with special needs in clinical and academic settings in the UAE, and has experience with a wide range of diagnoses and ages.

    • Pooja Thakkar

      Speech & Language Therapist

      Pooja has completed a Master’s (MASLP) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from Ali Yavar Jung National Institute For The Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai, India, and her Bachelor’s (BASLP) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai, India.

    • Sneha Rawlani

      School Counselor

      Sneha has completed a Bachelor’s (BSc) in Psychology from The University of Exeter, UK. She has worked with a non-profit organization for children on the autistic spectrum in Exeter, UK, and as an intern at a psychiatric clinic in Mumbai. GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

    • Ekta Somaiya

      Case Manager & NIOS Programme Coordinator

      Ekta has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from SNDT Women’s University (Center of Special Education). Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in general and special education, and has provided remedial education and assessment at clinics in Mumbai, working with Psychologists and Occupational Therapists.

    • Ramya Vaikkam

      Co-Lead Teacher

      Ramya has completed a Bachelor's (B.Com) in Commerce from University of Madras, Chennai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has taught at general and special education schools for over 9 years, in the UK, the USA and Singapore. She also established and directed a tutoring center for children with special needs in New Jersey, USA.

    • Afaf Siraj Kazi

      Co-Lead Teacher

      Afaf has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has taught in special education for a year.

      • Rudri Joshi

        Co-Lead Teacher

        Rudri has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities and a Master’s (MA) in Clinical Psychology, from SNDT Women’s University, and a Bachelor’s (BA) in Psychology from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked at Masina Hospital, Thane Mental Hospital and Shivaji Hospital as an intern. GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

      • Salome D’Sa

        Co-Lead Teacher

        Salome has completed a Bachelor’s (BMS) of Management Studies from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, India. Prior to GSoM, she has worked in Business Development at a media company, has volunteered at non-profit organizations for underprivileged children and taught Sunday School at a local church. She has decided to pursue a career in education and GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

      • Frazer Vaz

        Adaptive Physical Educator

        Frazer has completed a Diploma in Physical Education from Samarth Vyayam Mandir, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, he has worked as a Physical Educator in schools and has coached children’s and adult football clubs across Mumbai for over 9 years.

      • Mehernaz Eshraghi

        Co-Lead Teacher

        Mehernaz has completed a Bachelor’s (BCom) in Commerce from University of Mumbai, India, and a Diploma in Interior Design from Rachana Sansad, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as an interior designer and has also taught value education classes to students. She has decided to pursue a career in education and GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

      • Noella Samuel

        Co-Lead Teacher

        Noella has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) from St. Xavier's Institute of Education, Mumbai, India, and a Bachelor’s (BA) in History from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has taught at non-profit organizations and schools across Mumbai for over 3 years.

      • Taila Anandasagar

        Co-Lead Teacher

        Taila has completed a Bachelor’s (BA) in Psychology (Sociology - Minor) from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in accounting, and has volunteered at The Hospital for Sick Children, Ontario and was involved in fundraising for charity events benefiting the literacy programs of elementary schools in Ontario. She is also a trained dancer.

      • Foram Mamniya

        Co-Lead Teacher

        Foram has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in the corporate sector and in IT. She has decided to pursue a career in education and GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

      • Srilakshmi R

        Co-Lead Teacher

        Srilakshmi has completed her Master's (M. Ed.) degree in Education (Pedagogy) from Azim Premji University (APU), Bangalore. Prior to joining, GSoM, she has worked with Head Start Educational Academy, Bangalore as a language teacher for a period of two years, and has volunteered with the Brindavan Education Trust, Bangalore, that serves children with special needs. She is also adept at playing the Sitar and has performed at many concerts!

      • Amrita Menon

        School Counselor

        Amrita has completed a Master’s (MA) in Counselling Psychology from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as a counsellor with an organization that serves children with learning disabilities, and also volunteers for a non-profit organization that serves visually challenged teenagers.

      • Shagun Kothari

        Teacher

        Shagun has completed her Master's (MA) degree in Clinical Psychology from S.N.D.T Women's University, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with Serra International Preschool and Childcare as a pre-nursery core teacher and as a clinical psychologist at Kind Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. She has experience working with young adults with developmental delays, helping them seek financial independence. She has also organized and participated in local seminars including SNDT University’s Seminar on Neuropsychology, Mindscape, and the UN Global MDG Summit.

      • Janhavi Raut

        Teacher

        Janhavi has completed her Bachelor’s (BA) degree in Psychology, a Post-Graduate Diploma in School Counselling from SNDT University, Mumbai, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Special Education (Multiple Disabilities) from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and the New Horizons Institute of Education and Research, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with the Inclusive Centre of Education and Vishesh Child Development Centre in Mumbai, and as a special educator with schools across Mumbai, including the Lodha World School and IRA Gurukul Educational Trust (NIOS). .

      • Mrudula Raut

        Teacher

        Mrudula has completed her Bachelor’s (BSc) in Home Science with a Specialization in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), and her Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education with a Specialization in Mental Retardation from SNDT University, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, Mrudula has worked as a special educator, remediation teacher and educational therapist, and has also worked as Head Teacher at the Suryoday School in Mumbai that serves children with special needs.

      • Sanjana Nisar

        Teacher

        Sanjana has completed her Master’s (MCom) degree from Mumbai University. Prior to joining GSoM. she has worked in the finance department of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, and has co-founded her own business, designing and manufacturing handbags.

      • Radhika Wig

        Teacher

        Radhika has completed a Master’s (MA) in Counselling Psychology from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as a school counsellor for a year.

      • Anuj Iyer

        Teacher

        Anuj has completed his Master's (MEd) in Education (Learning & Teaching) from Harvard University, Boston, USA. Prior to joining GSoM, he has worked with schools in Uttarakhand, Tripura, and Mumbai, and his roles included teaching, curriculum development, planning and facilitation of professional development activities, teacher and leader coaching, and school administration.

      • Shaun Williams

        Drama Facilitator

        Shaun has completed his Bachelor’s (BA) degree in English Literature from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, he has established a career in acting, appearing in TV commercials as well as stage productions with theatre groups like QTP and Akvarious Productions, and also operates the theatre company, ‘The Cellar Door’. He has trained under the renowned theatre professionals, Prabhat Bhaskaran, Sankar Vekateswaran, Daniel Oldman, and H. Tomba, and incorporates in his work various theatrical styles including improvisational comedy, butoh, clowning, ensemble theatre, and physical theatre. He has also worked with educational institutions across India, including Billabong High International School and the Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai.

      • Abhishek Panchal

        Visual Arts Facilitator

        Abhishek has completed a Bachelor’s (BBA) degree in Business Administration from Sikkim Manipal University, Sikkim. Prior to joining GSoM he worked as an art curator and manager. He is a self-taught visual artist, teacher and art manager, and has been teaching art to adults and children for over 5 years, using a combination of drama-based exercises and visual art to create opportunities for reflection, exploration and expression. He specializes in experimental abstract artwork rendered in acrylic or ink with intricate attention to detail. Most recently, he illustrated a children’s mapping activity kit ‘MY MUMBAI’, for the Yellow Pinwheel Kids Project. He has also established the ‘Bombay Pencil Jammers’ - an arts community-cum-collective that meets in various public spaces all over the Mumbai, with the aim of inculcating art into people’s everyday lives and to initiate ideas for artistic exchange.

      • Suresh Saroj

        Facility Maintenance and IT Manager

        Suresh has completed a Certificate Course in Hardware & Networking from Jetking Institute, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, he performed civil work for 13 years, and then worked in Technical Support for a year. He has been with GSoM since 2012, supporting its development since the early stages.

        IT Executive

        Suneel has completed a Bachelor’s (BSc) in Science from Kanpur University, India and a Certificate Course in Hardware & Networking from Jetking Institute, Mumbai, India.

      • Pradnya Ambre

        Accountant

        Pradnya has completed a Bachelor’s (BCom) in Commerce and a Diploma in Taxation, from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as an accountant in corporate institutions.

      • Sanaa Patel

        Administrative Executive (Front Office)

        Sanaa has completed her Bachelor's (BSc) degree in Science from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalay, Indore, and a Diploma in Aviation and Hospitality Management from Air Hostess Academy (AHA), Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with several large organizations including The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai, International Air Charter Operations India Pvt. Ltd., and Radiant Maritime India Pvt. Ltd., playing varied roles including receptionist, administrative executive, human resources assistant, flight attendant and air hostess.

      • Shailesh Chavan

        Administrator

        Shailesh has completed his Bachelor's (BCom) in Commerce from Mumbai University, India, and a Course in Disaster Management from Aniruddha's Academy of Disaster Management, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, he worked in administration and human resources for over 18 years for companies such as HDFC Standard Life Insurance and Shoppers Stop.

      • Madhavi Pathare

        School Nurse

        Madhavi has completed a Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery from Sir. H.N Hospital, Mumbai, and a Diploma in Hospital & Healthcare Management from Symbiosis University, Pune, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as a critical care nurse in various hospitals, and as an industrial nurse in health care setups.
