The Gateway Team

Great care has been taken to ensure that each and every teacher, clinician, and even non-teaching staff member at Gateway-Mumbai possesses the educational qualifications, prior work experience, and attitudes necessary to contribute effectively towards the success of our mission. At present, our team consists of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals with several years of relevant experience in India and overseas, qualified with Bachelors, Masters and even Doctorate degrees in Special Education from the most renowned universities in the UK, USA, and India.

Gateway-Mumbai invests tremendous time, effort and money towards providing its team members with opportunities for professional development (PD) through the year including: four weeks of intensive training during summer, monthly in-house workshops during ‘PD Day’, multiple opportunities to attend expert-led workshops and national/international conferences, and observation visits to our several collaborator institutions in the US each year.

    • Indira Bodani

      Founder

      As the Founding Trustee, Indira has conceptualized and directed the establishment and development of The Gateway School of Mumbai. Her experience in the field of special education began when she was serving as a teacher, for 5 years, at the renowned Sadhana School for children with special needs in Mumbai. After the birth of her first son, Indira spent 13 years in the USA working closely with a multidisciplinary team of renowned educators, therapists, and doctors, to support her older son’s developmental needs.

    • Siamack Zahedi

      Trustee

      Siamack served Gateway-Mumbai as the founding Head of School for 5 years, and he is presently an Honorary Trustee of the Keshavlal V. Bodani Charitable Trust. He has completed a Master's degree in Education from Columbia University (USA), and is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Johns Hopkins University (USA). Siamack has been working with formal and informal educational initiatives across a diversity of geographical contexts in India, since 2004. Today, as Founder and Managing Director of A2Q Education consultancy, he continues to work on school design and school development projects around India and overseas.     • Varsha Makhija

      Co-Principal

      Varsha is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. She has completed a Master's (MA) in Clinical Psychology from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with a variety of non-profit organizations, corporate institutions and schools for over 6 years.

    • Radhika Zahedi

      Co-Principal

      Radhika has completed a Master’s (MA) in Mathematics Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, USA. She has worked in public schools in New York, USA, teaching Math and Science, has taught in IB and IGCSE schools in Mumbai, and was a Consulting Expert and Teacher Coach and facilitated extensive Professional Development at a rural school in north-east India for over 5 years.

    • Radhika Misquitta

      Director of Research and Outreach

      Radhika is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. She has completed a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, and a Master's (MA) in Special Education from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in India and the USA as a Teacher Coach and Special Educator for over 9 years.

    • Rachna Shah

      Outreach Program Manager

      Rachna is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2012. She has completed the Hornsby Course in Dyslexia & Literacy from Alpha to Omega, UK, and her Master's (MA) in Psychology from S.N.D.T. University, Mumbai, India. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree (Ed.D.) from Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, USA.

    • Nituna Baretto

      Humanities Coordinator

      Nituna has completed the Teacher Training Course from St. Margaret's College, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with international schools (ICSE and IB) across Mumbai, teaching and developing curricula for over 8 years.

    • Rimi Chopra

      Arts and Movement Department Coordinator

      Rimi has completed a Certificate in Arts-Based Therapy (ABT) from the World Center for Creative Learning Foundation, Pune, a Master’s (MA) in Arts from SNDT Women's University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology from St. Xavier’s Institute of Education, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as an Arts-Based Therapist at clinics, as a Counseling Psychologist in schools and rehabilitative centers, and conducted music workshops for children in pediatric settings, across Mumbai.

    • Mala Lamba

      Sensory-Motor Department Coordinator

      She is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2012. Mala has completed a Certificate Course in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California, USA and a Bachelor’s (BSOT) in Occupational Therapy from Seth G.S Medical College, Mumbai, India. She has been practicing as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist since 2010.

    • Ridhika Shah

      Speech Therapist

      Ridhika has completed a Master’s (MASLP) in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology, from Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai, India. She stood 2nd across Mumbai in her graduating year. She has been practicing at clinics across Mumbai as a Speech & Language Therapist since 2011.

    • Manika Khanna

      Director of Admissions & Counseling Department Coordinator

      Manika has completed a Bachelor's (BA) in Psychology from University of Waterloo, Canada, and a Master’s (MA) in Clinical Psychology - Infant and Child Development from the University of Indianapolis, USA. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as a Counsellor and conducted neuropsychological assessments for LD/ADHD/ASD for children and adolescents at a variety of organisations in the USA.

    • Indrani Chatterjee

      Library Media Specialist

      Indrani has completed a Master’s (MEd) in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati, USA. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with a variety of schools in the USA for over 30 years, and has received the Teaching Excellence Award from The Kentucky Education Association.

    • Riddhi Gogri

      ICT Coordinator

      Riddhi has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India, and a Bachelor’s (BA) in Psychology from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in the learning resources department at an non-governmental organization in Mumbai, designing Individualized Education Plans and Special Educational Needs modules and conducting remedial education for children with special needs.

    • Tvisha Luthria

      Section Coordinator & Lead Teacher

      Tvisha has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India and a Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE). Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in nurseries and preschools across Mumbai.

    • Urvi Shah

      Lead Physical Therapist

      Urvi is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. She has completed her Bachelor's (BSPT) in Physical Therapy from University of Mumbai, India, a Certificate Course in Neuro-Developmental Treatment from the University of Colorado, USA, and a Certificate Course in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California, USA. She has been practicing as a Physical Therapist since 2010.

    • Amy P. Jain

      Occupational Therapist

      Amy has completed her Master’s (MSc OT) in Occupational Therapy from the University of Northampton, UK. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with children with special needs in clinical and academic settings in the UAE, and has experience with a wide range of diagnoses and ages.

    • Pooja Thakkar

      Speech Therapist

      Pooja has completed a Master’s (MASLP) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from Ali Yavar Jung National Institute For The Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai, India, and her Bachelor’s (BASLP) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai, India.

    • Sneha Rawlani

      Counselor

      Sneha has completed a Bachelor’s (BSc) in Psychology from The University of Exeter, UK. She has worked with a non-profit organization for children on the autistic spectrum in Exeter, UK, and as an intern at a psychiatric clinic in Mumbai. GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

    • Ananyah Iyer

      Counselor

      Ananyah has completed a Bachelor’s in Literature and Psychology from Mumbai University, as well as several examinations from Trinity College London, and the Associate Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London. Prior to joining GSOM, Ananyah has had experiences in organizing performing arts festivals, literature conferences, and other student conferences. A trained singer and pianist, GSOM is Ananyah’s first experience in the field of education

    • Rudri Joshi

      Math Coordinator

      Rudri has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities and a Master’s (MA) in Clinical Psychology, from SNDT Women’s University, and a Bachelor’s (BA) in Psychology from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked at Masina Hospital, Thane Mental Hospital and Shivaji Hospital as an intern. GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

    • Frazer Vaz

      Adaptive Physical Educator

      Frazer has completed a Diploma in Physical Education from Samarth Vyayam Mandir, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, he has worked as a Physical Educator in schools and has coached children’s and adult football clubs across Mumbai for over 9 years.

    • Ekta Somaiya

      Case Manager & NIOS Coordinator

      Ekta has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from SNDT Women’s University (Center of Special Education). Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in general and special education, and has provided remedial education and assessment at clinics in Mumbai, working with Psychologists and Occupational Therapists.

    • Salome D’Sa

      Lead Teacher

      Salome has completed a Bachelor’s (BMS) of Management Studies from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, India. Prior to GSoM, she has worked in Business Development at a media company, has volunteered at non-profit organizations for underprivileged children and taught Sunday School at a local church. She has decided to pursue a career in education and GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

    • Afaf Siraj Kazi

      Lead Teacher

      Afaf has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has taught in special education for a year.

    • Taila Anandasagar

      Lead Teacher

      Taila has completed a Bachelor’s (BA) in Psychology (Sociology - Minor) from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in accounting, and has volunteered at The Hospital for Sick Children, Ontario and was involved in fundraising for charity events benefiting the literacy programs of elementary schools in Ontario. She is also a trained dancer.

    • Foram Mamniya

      Lead Teacher

      Foram has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in the corporate sector and in IT. She has decided to pursue a career in education and GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

    • Mehernaz Eshraghi

      Lead Teacher

      Mehernaz has completed a Bachelor’s (BCom) in Commerce from University of Mumbai, India, and a Diploma in Interior Design from Rachana Sansad, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as an interior designer and has also taught value education classes to students. She has decided to pursue a career in education and GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

    • Noella Samuel

      Mentor Teacher

      Noella has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) from St. Xavier's Institute of Education, Mumbai, India, and a Bachelor’s (BA) in History from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has taught at non-profit organizations and schools across Mumbai for over 3 years.

    • Anuj Iyer

      Teacher

      Anuj has completed his Master's (MEd) in Education (Learning & Teaching) from Harvard University, Boston, USA. Prior to joining GSoM, he has worked with schools in Uttarakhand, Tripura, and Mumbai, and his roles included teaching, curriculum development, planning and facilitation of professional development activities, teacher and leader coaching, and school administration.

    • Radhika Chandrasekaran

      Assistant Teacher

      Radhika has completed a B.A. in Psychology from Mumbai University, an M.Sc. in Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore, and a Certificate Course in Arts Based Therapy from World Centre for Creative Living Foundation, Pune. Prior to joining GSOM, she has worked with with special needs children and other clinical populations, offering her services as a psychologist and arts-based therapist, for NGOs and private practices in Mumbai and Bangalore.

    • Chandni Shah

      Assistant Teacher

      Chandni has completed a Bachelor’s in Mass Media (Journalism) from Mumbai University. Prior to joining GSOM, Chandni has worked as a workshop facilitator for children’s workshops, and initiated a early childhood literacy program. Additionally, she has experience in the fields of marketing, production, and content development.

    • Lalita Chawla

      Assistant Teacher

      Lalita has completed a Master’s in Physical Chemistry from Mumbai University. Prior to joining GSOM, she has worked in managerial and administrative capacities at banks, accountancy firms and insurance companies for a over 24 years, before moving to the field of education. Most recently, Lalita participated in teaching fellowships with the non-governmental organization Teach For India for 2 years.

    • Natasha Oza

      Assistant Teacher

      Natasha has completed a Bachelor’s in Life Sciences and Biochemistry from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, and a Diploma in Fine Arts from the National Institute of Fine Arts (NIFA). Prior to joining GSOM, Natasha has experience in the fields of research, data analysis and scientific writing. An artist, pianist, and certified scuba diver, GSOM is Natasha’s first experience in the field of education.

    • Janhavi Raut

      Assistant Teacher

      Janhavi has completed her Bachelor’s (BA) degree in Psychology, a Post-Graduate Diploma in School Counselling from SNDT University, Mumbai, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Special Education (Multiple Disabilities) from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and the New Horizons Institute of Education and Research, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with the Inclusive Centre of Education and Vishesh Child Development Centre in Mumbai, and as a special educator with schools across Mumbai, including the Lodha World School and IRA Gurukul Educational Trust (NIOS). .

    • Sanjana Nisar

      Assistant Teacher

      Sanjana has completed her Master’s (MCom) degree from Mumbai University. Prior to joining GSoM. she has worked in the finance department of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, and has co-founded her own business, designing and manufacturing handbags.

    • Sara D’Souza

      Assistant Teacher

      Sara has completed a B.Ed. in Special Education from SNDT University; a Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education, and a Diploma in Pre-Primary Teacher Training, from Vidhya Nidhi Education Society; and a BA in Psychology from Mumbai University. Prior to joining GSoM, Sara has worked at the American School of Bombay (ASB) as an intern, and has worked with children privately as a vocal instructor/singing teacher.

    • Henal Vora

      Assistant Teacher

      Henal has completed a B.Ed. in Special Education, and a BSc. in Home Science from SNDT University, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in different schools and remedial centers in Mumbai as an intern.

    • Sejal Shah

      Assistant Teacher

      Sejal has completed a B.Ed. in Special Education SNDT University, Mumbai, and a Master’s in Electronics from Gujarat Arts and Science College. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in different schools in Gujarat and Mumbai in teaching positions.

    • Anjali Kumar

      1:1 Teacher

      Anjali has completed an M.A. in Psychology from University of Pune; a Certificate Course for Social Workers (with focus on women’s issues) from Sophia’s Centre for Women’s Studies and Development; a Certificate Course in Psychometric Testing for Vocational Guidance from the Institute for Psychological Testing, Guidance and Counselling, Mumbai; a Certificate Course in Arts Based Therapy from World Centre for Creative Living Foundation, Pune; and finally, a Certificate Course in Applied Buddhist Psychology & Ethics from University of Pune. Prior to joining GSOM, Anjali has been a Psychology lecturer at the National Institute for the Blind, Mumbai; she has worked on two vocational guidance projects, and one arts-based therapy project, with schools in Mumbai and Pune; and has taught as a special educator at a school in Dubai.

    • Jayashree Rajan

      1:1 Teacher

      Jayashree has completed a Bachelor’s in Nutrition & Dietetics, a Certificate Course in Counselling (the Robert Carkhuff model of personal counselling) from Heart to Heart Counselling Center, Mumbai, as well as courses in French and German. Prior to joining GSOM, she has worked with advertising agencies and human resources firms..

    • Sangeeta Hejmadi

      1:1 Teacher

      Sangeeta has completed a Bachelor’s in History from Mumbai University. Prior to joining GSOM, Sangeeta has worked with private centers, public schools and non-governmental organizations, in the capacities of content teacher, remedial educator, and art teacher. With over 23 years of experience in the field of education, Sangeeta also happens to be a mural artist.

    • Daya Chatani

      1:1 Teacher

      Daya has completed a Bachelor’s in Psychology from McGill University, Canada; has completed the Association Montessori International (AMI) Primary Diploma from Foundation for Montessori Education, Toronto; and has completed the Autism and Behavioural Science Program, and the Human Resources Management Program, from George Brown College, Toronto. Prior to joining GSOM, Daya has worked as an educator and program developer in special education and early child care settings in Canada. Her work included research projects, individualized program development, and social skills training, with focus on autism spectrum disorder.

    • Shaun Williams

      Drama Facilitator

      Shaun has completed his Bachelor’s (BA) degree in English Literature from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, he has established a career in acting, appearing in TV commercials as well as stage productions with theatre groups like QTP and Akvarious Productions, and also operates the theatre company, ‘The Cellar Door’. He has trained under the renowned theatre professionals, Prabhat Bhaskaran, Sankar Vekateswaran, Daniel Oldman, and H. Tomba, and incorporates in his work various theatrical styles including improvisational comedy, butoh, clowning, ensemble theatre, and physical theatre. He has also worked with educational institutions across India, including Billabong High International School and the Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai.

    • Abhishek Panchal

      Visual Arts Facilitator

      Abhishek has completed a Bachelor’s (BBA) degree in Business Administration from Sikkim Manipal University, Sikkim. Prior to joining GSoM he worked as an art curator and manager. He is a self-taught visual artist, teacher and art manager, and has been teaching art to adults and children for over 5 years, using a combination of drama-based exercises and visual art to create opportunities for reflection, exploration and expression. He specializes in experimental abstract artwork rendered in acrylic or ink with intricate attention to detail. Most recently, he illustrated a children’s mapping activity kit ‘MY MUMBAI’, for the Yellow Pinwheel Kids Project. He has also established the ‘Bombay Pencil Jammers’ - an arts community-cum-collective that meets in various public spaces all over the Mumbai, with the aim of inculcating art into people’s everyday lives and to initiate ideas for artistic exchange.

    • Suresh Saroj

      Facility Maintenance and IT Manager

      Suresh has completed a Certificate Course in Hardware & Networking from Jetking Institute, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, he performed civil work for 13 years, and then worked in Technical Support for a year. He has been with GSoM since 2012, supporting its development since the early stages.

    • Suneel Singh

      IT Executive

      Suneel has completed a Bachelor’s (BSc) in Science from Kanpur University, India and a Certificate Course in Hardware & Networking from Jetking Institute, Mumbai, India.

    • Pradnya Ambre

      Accountant

      Pradnya has completed a Bachelor’s (BCom) in Commerce and a Diploma in Taxation, from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as an accountant in corporate institutions.

    • Asha John

      School Nurse

      Asha has completed her Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery from the Dhanbad School Of Nursing, Bihar, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in several hospitals and medical set-ups across India and Dubai for over 23 years.
