    Gateway Café Lead & Culinary Instructor

    The Café Lead and Culinary Instructor at The Gateway School of Mumbai is crucial in supporting learners in developing culinary skills and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities include overseeing activities in the cafe, collaborating with external chefs, managing inventory, and supporting learners’ skill development. The ideal candidate should exhibit a passion for culinary education with strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, all while embodying the values and vision of The Gateway School of Mumbai.

     

    Reports to, and receives assistance, from: Career’s Path Program (CPP) Coordinator and Vice Principal

    Essential Responsibilities Include:

    At the Café:

    Support learners in cutting, chopping, and preparing the ingredients daily

    Support the learners with getting the equipment and supplies ready

    Support the learners with cleaning and organizing equipment and supplies

    Support the learners with packing and serving food

    Support the learners with delivering and collecting food trays

    Support learners with inventory and stock-keeping regularly

    Support learners with organizing and maintaining the hygiene of the ingredients, equipment, and surfaces

    Support the payment collection process at the Café. Maintain order sheet and payment collection records

    Collaboration and Communication:

    Consult with and support the external chef with tasks required to prepare meals

    Collaborate with the chef and share the menu with staff and students

    Place orders for ingredients and necessary equipment

    Maintain inventory daily in collaboration with the chef

    Serve as a liaison between learners, the chef, and CPP coordinator

    Other:

    Support learners with skill development

    Support and empower learners with social interactions and advocacy

    In addition to the above, performing all those functions that might be necessary to ensure that the school’s services are of the nature and quality that will help fulfill its founding vision

    Professionalism:

    Remain actively engaged, supporting learners directly, and modeling appropriate work skills

    Communicate clearly to all stakeholders

    Display a high standard of integrity and conduct while serving as a representative and ambassador for The Gateway School of Mumbai
