I came upon Gateway's Fellowship Programme as a recent graduate eager to learn more about special education and gain hands-on experience in the education field. Looking back now, it's the best opportunity I could have had. The training and mentorship provided at Gateway have been amazing. The balance between theory and practice has been really helpful, and I’ve especially loved the practical side. This programme has taught me patience. I've learnt how to celebrate the small wins. I’ve learned to approach challenges calmly, adapt to each child’s unique needs, and trust the process, knowing that every effort, no matter how small, makes a difference. The most rewarding moments are seeing the kids smile—it makes everything worthwhile. Professionally, this experience has given me clarity. I can definitely see myself continuing in this field and building a career in special education. It’s been fun so far and I love the fact that my first real, adult job is at Gateway—it’s truly an incredible place to work.

Gateway's Fellowship has been one of the most enriching milestones in my career journey. Combining education with hands-on experience, this Fellowship has been a dream start to my professional life, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have my first job at Gateway. The work culture at Gateway is exceptionally warm, kind, and supportive, fostering a sense of community that makes every day fulfilling. The training and mentorship offered here are exceptional. Our Fellowship theory sessions are very interactive and insightful, bringing fresh perspectives through engaging conversations. What stands out most is that, even as a fresher, I am treated with the same respect and responsibility as an experienced teacher. This approach has instilled in me greater confidence, patience, and kindness in my work and personal life. The teaching opportunities provided by the Fellowship are immensely rewarding. Moments when students grasp concepts and apply them to real-life situations bring a sense of satisfaction that is hard to describe. Gateway offers a nurturing environment, with its focus on activities, inclusion, and therapies setting it apart from many mainstream schools. The diverse teaching techniques and strategies they employ to support each student’s unique needs are truly commendable. I would highly recommend the Gateway Teaching Fellowship Programme to recent graduates and anyone interested in making a difference in the field of education. The best part is that it welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, with no prior experience or specialised knowledge required. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone has a chance to thrive and make a positive impact.

Respect ma'am/ sir, I finished my internship at the gateway school december 22,2023, and I just wanted to express my gratitude for everything you've taught me over the period of 6 months. I really value the advice and support you've offered during the time of my internship. Special thanks to Vishakha ma'am, my mentor who really helped me and gave me knowledge on how to work with different kids according to their needs. Thank you to the staff and the teachers at the gateway school for sharing their knowledge with me and always being patient and kind and ready to help whenever I need help. Thank you school for the amazing coffee breaks. I have learned so much about ADHD KIDS from the gateway school and I'm sure I'll be drawing on this knowledge for years to come.

Would like to say a big thank you for the learnings I have been gaining during my internship. Everyday has been a learning experience for me. Some of my learnings/ experiences I would like to share 1. Don't rush to finish your goals, if it takes time it is absolutely fine. I practiced this and it works wonders. The kids were able to learn better and with no stress. 2. Repetition is another key takeaway. Practiced it with the DTE kids and we had great results. 3. PDP sessions were great. All the activities I implemented in my class. The kids had fun and they learned a lot. The British Council listening and speaking activity was amazing. The kids loved it and we did all of it. Great Listening activity. ( Have recommended a lot of people for the next PDP) 4. Since we use only English in our classes, what I learnt was that it is okay to use Hindi and then move back to English. 5. Great learnings from Ms Alisha and Ms Pooja therapy class. The session they did on Tuesday was asking the kids to give suggestions. Even during a story they taught preposition without the kids knowing that they are learning preposition. This is something I shared with my friend who is also teaching in a rural school.

I started at the Gateway School of Mumbai's internship program quickly transitioning into the role of Homeroom Teacher. During my time as an associate at Gateway I received hands-on training, having the opportunity to work closely with the HSAP homeroom team, who were very welcoming, allowing me to support the lead teachers through planning daily activities and creating educational material across the homeroom and classes, truly making me feel as a part of their homeroom. The collaborative culture at Gateway extends well beyond the classroom. Throughout my time at Gateway I have been supported by the wonderful team. Gateway has been pivotal in my career transition, equipping me with skills and insights that I will carry forward into my next roles.

The experience at Gateway has been beyond what words can express. The team brings not only the best in the field of education for students, but also brings the best for it's staff. At Gateway, my journey has been very fulfilling where I have got several opportunities to move myself out of my comfort zone, only to reach new heights of excellence. My interactions with the multidisciplinary team here has helped me look at child development though a more holistic lens. The culture at Gateway is of respect, empathy and genuineness. As I look back, this has been one of the best decisions of my life. I am forever grateful for the privilege of being a part of Gateway!

Interning with the Gateway school has been a pleasure for me. Though it has been online this year, it has boosted my brain and has helped me grow as a person. This Internship has allowed me to understand the different aspects of the school program and has improved my skills and abilities in the profession of teaching. Interning with Gateway has helped me to set a direction, a route which has helped me set my future career goals and objectives. I love working with this school because of the environment and the culture which is very different from other schools. I have evolved and learned every day from every student and from every teacher who are a part of the Gateway family.

I cannot even begin to explain how impactful and memorable my time at The Gateway School of Mumbai has been. Being a newcomer in the field of Education without any conventional teaching background, Gateway has helped get me in the door to Special Education. It allowed me to work in a dynamic and autonomous environment where I was given varied exposure to teaching practices across lower, middle and high school grades with timely debriefs to internalise key learnings. My mentor, Ms. Andrea D’Costa has steered my internship to ensure a holistic learning experience for me. She has truly been a supportive mentor who takes keen interest in capacity building. I feel grateful for this opportunity to intern with Gateway, that sets very high benchmarks for excellence to make learning more engaging and relevant for children.

The last eight sessions have been really informative and engaging and I've been trying to implement many different strategies from those learnings, such as online tools like Quizzes, Kahoot, and Socrative. I'm uploading assignments on Google classroom as well. I'm also using Mentimeter to make thinking visible and to help children express themselves. I am also using different energisers like eye breaks and movement breaks. I've been making presentation slides in which I'm making sure that I use larger fonts. I highlight the text which I want them to focus on using colors and underlining, and I use different visuals and graphic organisers as well. I've shared PowerPoint presentations in the assignment section as well.

It's really amazing; the correlation between the sync and async classes is really great. It's really hard to believe that this is the first time you are doing this because it is so nicely synched.

Today's session was amazing. The best PDP session so far. It was very engaging and productive. Please design future sessions in the same way.
